The first thing any good tech will do when trying to bring a crashed computer back to life is to check for a restoration file. The last known good instance of your operating system. More often than not, if a restoration disk has not been created, a full reload of an operating system is required.

To help ensure that you don't lose your files if you have a computer crash, you should back your computer up regularly. Backing up your systems files is a much different process than backing up your data and personal files.

On Friday August 3, 2012 Matthew Honan's digital experience changed dramatically. All of those little accounts, tools and entertainment applications that he had at his disposal for work, organization and leisure suddenly turned against him. Within days he had his Google, social media and Apple ID accounts broken into. For the most part he had his authentication daisy chained so once the hacker was in, he was able to spread from account to account posting on his various pages, changing innocuous settings and simply just making his life miserable. And the only apparent reason was to simply show that the he, the hacker,  could. This particular case demonstrates clearly many of the "shoulds" and "should nots" in personal computer and cloud based application security.

Next to your list of contacts and email client, you smart phone browser is probably the most frequently used app onboard. Except for my sister who uses her Facebook app more than anyone on the planet.

Google and Apple are both very much aware of this, so they created their own browsers to be pre-loaded in their phones. Safari holds the reigns for iOS and Google Chrome is the big boy for Android. More and more my analytics reports are showing Bing strong on Windows 8, but they have a lot of ground to cover as a late comer. I am on Android and I use Chrome for the most part. I like the minimalist design, I like that I can sync data across all my devices and it shares my password program across all my devices.  Then their are all the features that I rarely use but are present when called.
